About

I grew up in a small town nestled next to a beautiful lake in Upstate New York. It was a place where you saw the family doctor at the grocery store, your pharmacist at the park, and your hair stylist at the bakery. As you can imagine making the move from a small town to the big city of Saint Paul was a challenge for me. However, once I found my community, I quickly realized that a big city could feel like a small town.

My Family taken by me.

Photography has been a lifelong passion for me. In 2015, after being asked by friends if I could take their family pictures, I launched my business on the 100th birthday of my grandmother. My grandmother came from an era where you keep your “people” (doctors, hair stylists, lawyers, etc.) for life. These are the people who know all about your family and have watched them grow year after year. I love it when I see someone out in the community and they bend down to their preschooler and say “this is our photographer” when they see me. I love to be known as a family’s photographer.

I am a mom so I know how hard it is to dress everyone up for pictures and get them all in the car on time. I try to make the sessions fun and stress free for the parents. I have a prep and wardrobe direction guides to help. I move fast and keep them moving throughout the session. I have three boys, so I know how important it is to move!

My editing style is moody and contrasty (is that a word?) and I am forever hunting down the perfect light. If I could do every outdoor photo session during the golden hours of sunrise and sunset I would, so I try to schedule around them. I prefer my subjects interacting with each other rather than my camera, but I also honor the need for a few photos of everyone looking at the camera and smiling. I always say that the best smiles come from parents playing with their kids and kids laughing at their parents.

I would love nothing more than to be your family’s photographer from maternity/newborn photos to senior photos (or head shots!).

I look forward to hearing from you!
